Diversified Farming

Our diversified farming techniques make certain that the soil never gets fatigued. This means that we plant a variety of different crops on our ranch that are designed to work together. This differs from farms that focus on growing only one type of crop. There are a number of advantages to diversified farming. We can grow crops all year round by replanting fields with crops that thrive in the coming seasons. Since no single crop makes up more than a third of our income, we’re also more stable than single-crop farms. Finally, this method can help stop soil erosion while keeping the ground fertile.

Crops We Grow

Our farm grows a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seed crops. The vegetables include a variety of peppers, carrots, garlic, onions, olives for oil, tomatoes, organic broccoli, organic onions and organic tomatoes. Our fruit production consists of watermelon and wine grapes. We farm almond, walnut and pistachio orchards. We produce conventional and organic arugula, kale, lettuce, mizuna mustard, onion and ornamental sunflowers for seed. Terranova Ranch regularly looks at new crops and considers changes to what we’re producing from year to year.
